USF Polytechnic, located in Lakeland at the heart of Florida's High Tech Corridor, is the state's only polytechnic campus. 05-03-2007 • USF Lakeland Administrator Honored by President Genshaft
For the first time in the history of the University of South Florida, one of USF's Presidential Women's Leadership Awards has been given to a woman from a regional campus. This week USF President Judy Genshaft honored Dr. Judith Ponticell, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at USF Lakeland, with the award at a ceremony in Tampa.

Students from twenty-two colleges, including the University of South Florida Lakeland, Xavier, Tulane, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Howard, San José State, Stanford, NYU, Cal, and University of Michigan have put out a call to all college campuses to participate in a "National Post-Katrina College Summit" for April 9-14. 03-09-2007 • USF Board of Trustees Approves Master Plan for New Lakeland Campus
On Wednesday afternoon the Board of Trustees of the University of South Florida met in Lakeland to hold a second and final public hearing on the master plan for the new USF Lakeland campus to be located on I-4 at the northeast corner of Lakeland, along the Polk Parkway.
In a brief meeting, the Board unanimously approved the master plan without reservation. The approval allows the University to continue to implement its plan for growth and progress as we serve the Heartland counties according to USF President Judy Genshaft. Read more

Several hundred faculty, staff, students and community members gathered Monday to celebrate the opening of the new Lakeland Technology Building on the campus shared by Polk Community College and the University of South Florida.

02-13-2007 • Lakeland Technology Building Dedication: Feb. 26
The new $32 million academic building on the Polk Community College/University of South Florida Lakeland will be dedicated on Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. The event will feature brief speeches by PCC President Dr. Eileen Holden, USF President Dr. Judy Genshaft and USF Vice President and Lakeland Campus Executive Officer Dr. Marshall Goodman. The Master of Ceremonies will be Kristen Dailey, President of USF Lakeland Student Government and a PCC graduate. Lakeland Mayor Ralph “Buddy” Fletcher and several other local dignitaries will participate and attend the event. Read more

01-30-2007 • USF Lakeland Hosts Future Polk Teachers
On Friday, February 2, 2007, the University of South Florida Lakeland will host an orientation for prospective Polk County teachers. The event is sponsored by the Polk County Schools and includes Level III interns from five colleges and universities. In addition to students from USF Lakeland, the event includes Florida A&M University, Florida Southern College, Southeastern University, and Warner Southern College. Read more

The delivery of higher education is critical to the future of Florida. I am proud of our USF campuses and how together we serve the state in providing undergraduate and graduate programs which prepare our students to serve the state and the nation. The Board of Governors hired the Pappas Consulting Group to conduct a thorough examination of the Florida’s higher education system and to make recommendations on growth, cost, and delivery of higher education. 01-10-2007 • USF Lakeland Hosts Prestigious Tech Alliance
This week the University of South Florida Lakeland will host leaders of an innovative national technology alliance comprised of eleven universities stretching from Florida north to Vermont. The consortium, Students and Technology in Academia, Research and Service (STARS), is led by the University of North Carolina Charlotte and includes USF Lakeland and other national colleges and universities.
