Registration open for Senior Scholars summer program
LAKELAND,
FL (May 15, 2008) -
The University of South Florida Lakeland Rath Senior ConNEXTions and Education Center is offering its first summer session of Senior Scholars courses. Four courses will be offered: Intermediate Computers, Understanding and Appreciating Florida Wildlife through Digital Photography, Acting 102, and Playwriting.
Classes, which begin May 23 and end July 3, are offered at USF Lakeland. Classes are held once a week for two hours. Registration is $50. Register before May 23 and receive a $5 coupon. For more information call 863-533-5925 or email albush@lakeland.usf.edu.
The Senior Scholars Program gives seniors 50+ the opportunity to continue the lifelong learning process in a friendly classroom environment.
"All of our programs are created to enhance continued intellectual and personal growth," said Dr. Rosemarie S. Lamm, director of the USF Lakeland Rath Senior ConNEXTions and Education Center.

Intermediate Computers
Fridays, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Understanding & Appreciating Florida Wildlife through Digital Photography
Tuesdays; 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Acting 102
Mondays, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Playwriting
Saturdays, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
In addition to Senior Scholar classes, the Rath Center offers the following support groups to the community:
Caregiver's Support Group
Every Thursday, 10:00 a.m. - Noon
(Respite care offered)
Beginning Alzheimer's Support and Education Program
Every Mondays, 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Bereavement Support Group
Every Monday, 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Mild Cognitive Impairment/Early Dementia Support Group
Every other Monday, 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Parkinson's Disease Support Group
Second Wednesday of each month, 3:00 p.m. - 4:00p.m.
